PLANNING GRANTED FOR SUBSTANTIAL NORTH WEST LOGISTICS DEVELOPMENT

Commercial real estate investor and developer, Firethorn Trust, has secured planning permission to regenerate a brownfield site in Ellesmere Port, Cheshire.

Firethorn acquired the 42.5-acre site from Peel Ports Group in November 2020. Planning approval has now been granted for Link Logistics Park, which will provide up to 700,000 sq. ft. of modern logistics accommodation, creating approximately 800 jobs for the local region.

As groundworks at the speculative scheme near completion, construction is due to commence on site in January 2022, with delivery expected within 10 months by Q4 2022.

Paul Martin, Development Director at Firethorn Trust, said: “Link Logistics Park is a hugely exciting addition to our expanding portfolio. We are continuing to work closely with the local council to ensure the swift delivery of a high-quality scheme that will bring significant and long-lasting economic benefits to the wider region.

“Delivered as net-zero carbon in construction, with a BREEAM ‘Excellent’ specification, we look forward to transforming this brownfield site into a modern and sustainable industrial development, which is expected to attract significant interest from major occupiers.

“This scheme reflects Firethorn’s ambition to provide social and economic benefit to local stakeholders and occupiers, by regenerating disused manufacturing facilities into much needed and industry leading logistics solutions.”

In addition to an impressive power supply of up to 25MvA, and eaves heights of up to 25m, potential occupiers at Link Logistics Park will also benefit from exceptional transport links to the UK logistics network.

Immediately adjacent to Junction 7 of the M53 and within a 45-minute drive of Liverpool and Manchester airports, the multi-modal site is also in close proximity to the Manchester shipping canal, which is situated just 22 miles from the Port of Liverpool. All enquiries regarding Link Logistics Park should be directed to the scheme’s letting agents, CBRE, B8 Real Estate and Moriarty & Company.
