Eco baby brand offers £57,500 worth of funded bursaries and scholarships for sustainability education

Eco-friendly baby care company Pura has announced that it is partnering with Plymouth-based MLA College to offer 10 fully funded bursaries and scholarships in sustainability for businesspeople who want to drive positive change for the planet.

Each scholarship is worth £5,750, bringing the total value of the scholarships to £57,500.

Since the company launched in 2020, Pura mission has been to make eco-friendly baby care accessible to all parents, offering 100% plastic-free wipes and eco-friendly nappies that are convenient and affordable. It is also campaigning for a ban on plastic in wipes, as well as pioneering nappy recycling in the UK through a unique nappy recycling partnership with NappiCycle.

The distance learning MSc Sustainability in Practice, undertaken by Research Project with first enrolments in September 2022, is designed for senior to mid-management level. The college is specifically looking for leaders, managers and individuals in charge of teams or workplace sustainability who are eager to learn, develop and drive organisational change. The course involves a 12-month research project that will explore participants’ workplace or community challenges relating to sustainability and ask them to create viable solutions.

The programme is supported by the United Nations and students are encouraged to consider at least one of the Sustainable Development Goals as part of their project.

Guy Fennell, Pura founder and CEO, commented: “As a pending B Corp company, Pura knows that business can be used as a force for good. We’re delighted to be supporting a course that will allow individuals in the workplace to not just directing traffic when it comes to sustainability, but to make real change that will ultimately benefit the planet.”

Rector of MLA College, Professor John Chudley, added: “The MSc Sustainability in Practice programme is a master’s degree by research project. This means it is aimed at senior professionals that are in charge of workplace sustainability and teams and can instigate sustainable change within their organisation.

“Faced with many challenges, sustainability affects all of us, it doesn’t discriminate, and this is why I am so proud to say that MLA College will help drive change through education. This programme helps people explore workplace and community challenges, identify sustainable solutions, and more-over implement them. I am so excited to see what diverse projects are going to come out of this.”

On the partnership with Pura, CEO of MLA College, and Director of CIFAL City of London, Professor Basak Akdemir, said: “I am absolutely delighted to be working with Pura to offer individuals the opportunity of securing a scholarship to undertake this master’s degree. We hope these scholarships will help support people from less affluent countries to come forward and be part of this global agenda for change.”

Anyone interested in the scholarship should contact MLA college directly.
