Experienced property lawyer and ex-Wimbledon umpire joins Aaron & Partners

Aaron & Partners’ new Real Estate Partner Brent Williams officiated during Pat Cash’s famous Wimbledon Final win over Ivan Lendl in 1987

Brent, who moves over from Knights plc, will specialise in acquisition, disposal and funding of commercial and agricultural property

An experienced property lawyer and former Wimbledon tennis umpire has joined Aaron & Partners as the firm’s new Real Estate Partner.

Brent Williams will specialise in the acquisition, disposal and funding of commercial and agricultural property, and moves to the Chester-based firm from his previous role at Knights plc.

Brent, who has worked in Chester for more than 20 years, said Aaron & Partners’ reputation as a strong, growing brand was crucial in his decision to take on the role.

His vast experience stems into the sporting world too – and after leaving university, Brent became one of the country’s top tennis officials in the 1980s.

That led to him umpiring at Wimbledon on centre court on various occasions, and even as a line judge in two men’s finals. One of those was for Pat Cash’s famous victory over Ivan Lendl in 1987 – when the Australian climbed into the stands to celebrate his win, beginning a tradition that has continued ever since.

Brent left officiating tennis in 1990, and his sporting interests have since switched. Now, together with his wife, he breeds racehorses from his home in North Wales, and is a member of the Chester Racecourse Committee.

Speaking about his move to Aaron & Partners, he said: “Since moving to Chester, I’ve always had deep admiration for Aarons’ reputation as a strong company with a fantastic local identity.

“It’s great to see the firm pursuing such ambitious plans and recruiting quickly, and I’m delighted to join the team here.”

Brent’s notable instructions down the years include the sale of 100 acres of land to Toyota for the construction of its Deeside Engine Plant, and the purchase of County Hall in Chester.

He will be based at Legal 500-ranked Aaron & Partners’ Chester office, and said he’s looking forward to helping the company grow.

He added: “I’ve embraced a wide variety of challenges in my career – including judging big decisions, and I have very fond memories of those thrilling fortnights and the brilliant atmosphere at SW19. You felt the focus of the world’s attention and it was great to be a part of it all. The sport may have changed radically since then, but every time those two weeks come around, I’m always a little sad that I’m not there doing it all again.

“Similarly, I look forward to embracing this exciting new challenge at Aaron & Partners. It’s a new team and spread of work for me – and I look forward to giving everything I can to helping the business succeed.”
