CRICKET CLUB NETS FUNDING FROM ANWYL

ANWYL Homes has batted a donation to Winnington Park Cricket Club to kit out players and help with fundraising for new facilities.

The club is based at Winnington Recreation Club, less than a mile from Anwyl’s Winnington Park development. As good neighbours, the homebuilder stepped up to the wicket and offered a donation to support the club.

James Hendry, from Winnington Park Cricket Club, explained: “Cricket has been played at the club since the 1880s and over the years players have progressed from junior level to senior teams thanks to the strength of the facilities. Our artificial practice facilities were in desperate need of improvement, and we launched a large scale fundraising drive to upgrade them.

“Anwyl offered their support by sponsoring polo shirts for the adult players, which in turn freed up other funds towards enhancing our facilities. We’re confident that these improvements will help encourage more members of the local community to come down to the club and to consider taking up cricket.”

Further proving itself to be a good sport, Anwyl has also lent its support to Winnington Park Rugby Club, sponsoring a pitch board and decorating a show home bedroom with a rugby theme.

Anwyl area sales manager Amy Houlihan added: “Sports clubs play an integral part in any community as they offer somewhere to meet new friends while staying fit and active. We’re keen advocates of grassroots sport and are happy to have been able to help Winnington Park Cricket Club continue to provide opportunities for local people to enjoy the sport.”

Those looking for a new home in Winnington will be bowled over by the choice of three and four-bedroom homes available at Anwyl’s Winnington Place development. For details see https://www.anwyl.co.uk/winnington.
