Chester-based Sykes Holiday Cottages has appointed a new Marketing Director.
Chris Algar – who began his career with the holiday home rental agency in 2015 – was previously Head of Owned & Earned Media but will now head up Sykes’ marketing team.
His new role as Marketing Director will see him accelerate the business’ position within the UK travel industry, working closely with Chief Marketing Officer, James Shaw.
Chris will also support Sykes’ marketing teams across the country, whose role it is to engage both holiday home owners and guests for the firm’s regional sister brands, including Menai Holiday Cottages, Dream Cottages and Helpful Holidays.
Commenting on his new role, Chris said: “It’s great to be able to continue my professional journey at Sykes Holiday Cottages and I’m excited to now move into a new role with fresh challenges and opportunities.
“Our team has made great strides in recent years, including driving double digit growth in brand visibility year-on-year, and I can’t wait to see what we achieve next.”
James Shaw, Chief Marketing Officer at Sykes Holiday Cottages, added: “Chris’ new role as Marketing Director is very well deserved and he brings an unmatched set of skills and experience.

Chris’ appointment follows Sykes’ recent recruitment drive, which saw the business advertise for 100 roles as part of its continued expansion. The company has already welcomed more than 300 new starters this year.
