5 Signs it’s Time to Relocate to a Bigger Office

There comes a time in every business’ growth when they need to ask themselves if their current office space is big enough, if it’s able to keep up with the growth of the business. It’s an important question to ask yourself – and one quite tough question to answer, but if you’re noticing any of the following five signs, it might be time to start looking for a new place.

Lack of desks for new workers

If your business is expanding and you’re hiring new people but don’t have enough desks for everyone – and there’s no room for new ones in the first place, it may mean it’s time for an office move. Your employees will be more productive and feel much more comfortable in an environment that gives them more air to breathe, so to speak. Plus, if you’re set to expand your business further, it may be a good idea to anticipate your growth and go for a larger space in advance.

Office is overcrowded

If you and your employees feel crammed like sardines in your office, the time may be right to start looking for a new location. An overcrowded office can lead to a variety of problems, including decreased productivity, increased stress levels, and conflict among employees. Not to mention that it can be tough to focus when you sit next to, like, everybody at the same time.

Problems with meeting spaces start to pop up

With not enough place to meet with your employees or clients, with all the meeting rooms being constantly occupied, when you’re constantly struggling to find a good place – suitable for a given type of meeting, or if your meetings are being regularly interrupted by noise from other parts of the office, it’s high time to realise you simply need more office space. A bigger office will give you more options for meeting rooms, and can help reduce distractions during important talks and project work.

Your storage space is overflowing

Is your office crammed full of filing cabinets and boxes of documents and other office stuff? Looks like you need to find a new home with more storage options. A larger office will give you and your people the space you need to keep your work area organised and tidy. If you’re running out of storage space more often than not, struggling to keep the physical aspects of your office under control, it’s time to go bigger in terms of space.

You’re seeing a decrease in productivity

A noticeable decrease in the productivity of your employees may suggest it’s about time to consider relocating to a bigger office. People can’t thrive, deliver, and perform at their best if they don’t have the right environment to do so or the conditions that would support them in their efforts. Indeed, the physical aspect of the workplace matters much more than it may seem, at some point moving office may be the right way to keep your people motivated and engaged.

Is an office relocation the only choice you got?

If your business is growing and you expect more projects, more hires, and more work, an office relocation may be the only choice you have. But sometimes you may need to ask yourself some questions. For instance – are you taking full advantage of the space you have at your disposal? Maybe some changes in terms of the arrangement or furnishings could do the job? Maybe incorporating some modern solutions like meeting room pods or acoustic furniture would help you and your people make better use of the space you have? Sometimes it takes some thinking outside the box, but the outcome may be well worth it.
