Creative Futures events features guests from the BBC to the music charts

The three days of inspiring free talks, workshops and performances at the University of Chester will be attended by a BBC editor, musicians, actors, presenters, journalists, and arts organisation leaders.

The University’s Department of Music, Media and Performance is delighted to host the Creative Futures events at the Creative Campus, Kingsway, Chester, from Tuesday January 17 to Thursday January 19, 2023. All the sessions are open to the public.

The creative professionals sharing their knowledge, insight, and experiences include:

  • Richard Maddock, BBC Radio 5 Live Commissioning Editor
  • Suzie Henderson, Creative Director of Storyhouse, Chester
  • Lauren L’aimant, Songwriter, Vocalist and Producer – tipped as a ‘triple threat’ by BBC Radio 1’s Jaguar
  • Dominik Wilde, Motorsport Journalist
  • Dr Robert Wilsmore, Composer, Producer, Musicologist, Academic, and Collaborator

University students and staff join the list of contributors and information will be shared on research and courses.

Live music and theatre will also be presented including the “must see” ‘A Non-Emergency’ production. Shortlisted for the LET (Les Enfants Terribles) fringe theatre award, this dark comedy follows a day in the life of two ambulance care assistants.

Dr Pamela Barnes, Programme Leader for BA Acting and BA Drama (and Theatre Studies), and one of the organisers said: “We are thrilled to host three days of innovative and inspiring sessions focused on the creative industries.

“We’ve designed the programme to celebrate the industries, offer fascinating insights, spark ideas and drive for future careers, provide the chance to broaden skills and enjoy networking opportunities.

“Please do take a look at all that’s on offer and we look forward to welcoming everyone to the events from the 17th.”

Places are free but need to be booked in advance. For further information on the sessions and to book places, please visit: https://www.eventbrite.com/cc/creative-futures-2023-1534179.
