MACCLESFIELD CHILDREN ADOPT THE GREENHOUSE AT BELLWAY’S WEAVER GREEN

Bellway has invited children from Whirley Primary School on Whirley Road to adopt the greenhouse at its Weaver Green development on Chelford Road in Macclesfield.

Located in the garden of the showhome at the beautiful Bellway development, the stylish hexagonal greenhouse is currently empty and it is hoped that the children will use their horticultural expertise to bring it to life and brighten it up as winter gives way to spring.

Part of the school’s monthly gardening club, the mixed group of nine Key Stage 2 children enjoyed an initial visit to the development to make a start on their exciting new project, filling two large planters with compost and planting a variety of bulbs and seeds.

They intend to pop back every few weeks to check on the progress of their plants which will be carefully tended to by sales advisor Chantelle between their visits.

Headteacher at Whirley Primary, Amanda Edwards, commented: “We were delighted to be approached by Bellway to adopt the greenhouse at Weaver Green and the children have really enjoyed flexing their green fingers and getting started on the project. They selected a variety of different bulbs and seeds to plant and are very much looking forward to seeing how they develop between our monthly visits.”

Sales director at Bellway Manchester, Grace Yarlett, added: “It is wonderful to have Whirley Primary adopt our greenhouse and to see the children engrossed in the planting session.  In addition to producing some fabulous flowering plants for our borders and hanging baskets, they are going to try their hands at growing some salad items including tomatoes, cucumbers and cress that they can take back to school with them.  This project fits perfectly with our focus on nature at Weaver Green where we already have hedgehog protection measures in place and are introducing as many ways as possible to be sustainable and environmentally-friendly.”

Weaver Green is a beautiful development of high quality new build homes close to Macclesfield town centre.  Starting from £399,995, a select number of properties have just been released for sale and there are two stunning showhomes to view.  For further information please contact Bellway on 01625 324864 or visit www.bellway.co.uk

Whirley Primary has given permission for all of the pupils to appear in press photos.
