Knights lawyers tackle Three Peaks Challenge to raise £7,500 for Cheshire charity

Eleven lawyers from Chester completed the gruelling Three Peaks Challenge in under 24 hours – raising an incredible £7,500 for a charity that supports people with lifelong learning disabilities and mental health issues.

The team from Knights spent months clocking up the miles in preparation for their attempt to scale the highest mountains in England, Scotland and Wales.

Their efforts paid off as they summitted the three peaks in less than a day, spurred on by donations from friends, family and colleagues totalling more than £7,500.

Every penny raised from their efforts will support Bridge Community Wellness Gardens. The Ellesmere Port-based charity provides nutrition support for families and keeps incredible green spaces that offer a safe, therapeutic and caring environment for people with lifelong learning disabilities and those struggling with their mental health.

Fundraising was spearheaded by Partner John Loney, who is a trustee for Bright Community Wellness Gardens and has organised several fundraisers with colleagues in Knights’ Chester office, including cooking a Christmas Dinner in December last year.

John Loney said:

“Bridge Community Wellness Gardens are brilliant, so we’re really grateful for the support we’ve had to raise money for their selfless work. We funded the trip ourselves so that all of the money we raise goes to the charity.

“We have been working on our fitness for the last 3 months in readiness – it was incredible to see everyone’s determination to finish the challenge.

“We’re also lucky to have Knights’ support to take time out from out from our schedules to take this challenge on. And I think it shows how close we are as a team.

“I don’t know many law firms that could throw together 11 people from all across their teams to embark on 13 hours of walking and 11 hours of being sat on a coach together!”

John completed the challenge with colleagues Jonathon Hogg, Rosanna Price, James Lunt, Awen Jones, Megan Baldwin-Brown, Michelle Jarvis, Amy Glasgow, Ceri Jones, Dan Walker and Tim Dennis.

Their training was boosted by Knights’ 4 Our Community scheme – which encourages all colleagues to use four working hours every month to support a good cause.

They initial set a £5,000 fundraising target when they committed to taking on Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon between 7-9 June. The total currently stands at more than £7,500.
