Why a consignment service gets you more cash for your Rolex

Selling a Daytona or a Day-Date? Whatever your reason for parting with your timepiece, we know you’ll want to maximise the profit on it.

Nick Hickey, managing director at Epping retailer Luxe Watches shares why a consignment service is the way forward when you’re ready to sell.

He says: “We know how hard it can be to sell direct. You don’t want to spend time getting messed about by potential buyers who then haggle you down to less than you’d want. Then of course, you also want to avoid sites like Ebay or Marketplace, where scammers could take advantage.

“When you want to sell a Rolex – or another top branded watch – it can be difficult to decide how much to let it go for. Perhaps it’s a family heirloom or you’re just trying to narrow down your collection.

“With a consignment service, you can rest assured your timepiece is insured whilst it’s in the hands of a trusted retailer – and it won’t be sold unless you’re happy with the final price that can be achieved.”

Luxe Watches, which has just launched a new digital advert on its social channels to advertise its new consignment service, having just moved its sales outfit to Epping’s High Street.

Now the boutique is sharing its good fortune by helping customers make a good return on their preloved timepieces.

Mr Hickey added: “Consigning is rather like having a personal assistant to do all the running around with your watch. Our team can advise you on what we think you can achieve for your watch, taking into consideration its condition and age.

“We sell your watch, you keep more money – whatever you hope to achieve for the watch – by consigning. You’ll receive more money than if you use a direct seller. There’s no haggling to deal with and messaging back and forth. We do all of that for you. You’ll own the watch throughout and it’s ensured the whole time it’s with us.”

Of course, you get to show off professional images of your watch to a much wider network than you’d normally have access to and this of course, includes a broader range of interested parties.

And for those who have no idea what price to sell their watch for, the scheme is particularly helpful.

Those who sign up to consign will achieve the most competitive price based on current market trends – not something they could necessarily achieve themselves. They can also take advantage of being guided through the entire process by a professional watch salesperson.
