HOMEBUILDER GEARS UP SUPPORT FOR CHESTER CHARITY

A CHESTER charity has wheeled in help from a local homebuilder to service adapted cycles for people living with disabilities and additional needs.

Live! Cheshire successfully applied for a £600 grant from Anwyl Homes’ ‘Love from Anwyl’ Chester fund.

Based at the New Scene Centre, in Lime Wood Close, Live! Cheshire welcomes people of all ages and abilities four days a week to use their range of specialist adapted cycles.

Paul Beaudoin, outdoor education coordinator at Live! Cheshire, said: “We’re a small charity that provides a range of specialist adapted cycles for people living with disabilities and additional needs to be able to enjoy the fun, freedom and health benefits of cycling.

“We work with local schools, care providers and health centres across Chester to ensure as many people as possible from the local community can access this project. We have 150 people visiting on a regular basis.

“We’re grateful to Anwyl for the funding – it will help us service 12 of our three-wheeled trikes. All our cycles, which include hand cycles, tandems and a wheelchair transporter, are serviced every year to ensure their safety so as many people as possible can access and benefit from our service.”

As well as its cycling provision, Live! Cheshire provides a varied programme of inclusive and accessible clubs and social activities for children, young people and adults. It welcomes visitors from throughout Cheshire, Wirral and North Wales to take part, make friends and have fun, while building confidence, improving physical well-being and helping them to develop social, vocational and independent living skills.

The £600 donation is one of several grants distributed by Anwyl from its ‘Love from Anwyl’ funding pot to help local not-for-profit organisations close to its development at Deva Green, Chester.

Graeme Gibb, sales director for Anwyl Homes Cheshire and North Wales, said: “Live! Cheshire is offering a fantastic opportunity for people of all abilities and ages to enjoy the benefits of cycling. Supporting organisations like this is the main reason we started our Love from Anwyl funds, and we’re pleased we could help them continue to offer their cycling provision safely for another year.”
