‘Be a Santa’ and spread Christmas cheer with Northwich home care company

Home Instead Northwich & Knutsford is partnering with Age UK Cheshire to bring festive cheers to older people.

The annual ‘Be a Santa’ gift giving campaign is always a huge hit in the local area at a time when older people can be lonely and miss out on festivities.

Aiming to combat this, the home care company is asking locals to ‘Be a Santa’ and donate thoughtful gifts for those who may otherwise not receive something this Christmas.

Donation station

The company has a collection point at its office – Unit 10, Brunel Court, Gadbrook Park, Rudheath Way, Rudheath, Northwich CW9 7LP – and will be collecting gifts until December 11.

Once the gifts have been collected, the team at Home Instead will be donating them to Age UK Cheshire on December 13, who will then give the presents out during its Bright Memories Dementia Service sessions.

The service is a day activity group for people living with the early stages of dementia. People can have a natter and enjoy a wide range of activities as well as a delicious and nutritious hot two-course meal, with plenty of tea, coffee, cold drinks, cakes and biscuits during the day.

Some of the Home Instead team will be attending a few of the sessions during the week of December 18.

Giving back

Head of operations at Home Instead Northwich & Knutsford, Nick Hodgson, said: We believe in giving back to the local community. We know just how challenging Christmas time can be for many older people and want to do our bit to share some love and festive cheer.

“Please get involved if you can, it really will brighten someone’s Christmas!”

Christie McMahon, head of operations at Age UK Cheshire, said, “Age UK Cheshire is aware that a previously cherished time of year can sometimes become a painful reminder of how alone people are. This scheme aims to positively impact the lives of older people in our community during the festive season.”
