Cricket legend Michael Vaughan opens new PT gym in Congleton

A third FITISM small group personal training gym has opened in Congleton, heralding a new phase of growth for the brand on the back of fresh funding.

The new state-of-the-art 3000 sqft purpose built facility was officially opened by ex-cricketer Michael Vaughan, who is one of eight private investors in the FITISM group.

Located at Somerford Park Farm (between Holmes Chapel and Congleton), FITISM Somerford is now the third FITISM gym in the North West, and the group is planning to launch up to a further nine gyms in the coming months.

FITISM director, Ali Crawford said: “While the first two FITISM gyms were financed by founders Matt Kay, Rebecca Sampson and myself, to enable us to expand we have successfully raised further funding from a group of eight investors, including Michael Vaughan.

“Michael has been a FITISM member since 2015 following the launch the business in Bakewell, Derbyshire. He subsequently became an ambassador for both Bakewell and FITISM Wilmslow when that opened in 2017. So we’re delighted that he is continuing to support our growth as part of our investor team.

“Our ambition is to now continue to roll out new gyms throughout Cheshire and we have also secured a potential site in South Yorkshire.

“As well as offering expert training, fitness programming and nutritional support, one of the things that sets us apart is our community feel, and how we bring together likeminded people to support each other’s training and progress in a welcoming and friendly environment. We cater for all abilities, and all ages, as everything is tailored to an individual’s goals. We also host events, ALPHA, GAMES, community evenings, talks, Q&A sessions and collaborations with local businesses.

“More than £150,000 has been invested in our new site to create an inspiring environment with the latest facilities. And being located at Somerford Park Farm equestrian centre gives us some amazing views of the countryside and easy to access from both Holmes Chapel and Congleton.”
