Age UK and home care company celebrate success of Christmas campaign

A local home care company has hailed its ‘Be a Santa’ gift giving campaign a huge success.

Home Instead Northwich & Knutsford, teamed up with Age UK Cheshire to help combat loneliness in December, especially over the festive period which can be an isolating time.

The team asked locals to donate gifts for older people – and they managed to collect 50.

Home Instead had festive collection points around the local area, including ASDA Barons Quay and its office at Gadbrook Park.

From winter warmers and toiletries to sweet treats and goodies, the company was keen to collect gifts that would make someone’s Christmas that little bit brighter.

Presents were then distributed by the Home Instead team at Age UK Cheshire’s Bright Memories Dementia Service sessions.

Head of operations at Home Instead Northwich & Knutsford, Nick Hodgson, said, “At Home Instead we are aware of the challenges many older people face at Christmas time, especially isolation and loneliness.

“It brings me so much pride to know that we have done our bit and put smiles on faces. A massive thank you to everyone who donated gifts, and of course to Age UK Cheshire for getting involved!”
