Little Sutton set to bloom after donation

Little Sutton will soon be in bloom thanks to a donation from a housebuilder.

The cash boost means that Positive Action for Little Sutton (PALS) community action group will be able to buy bulbs to plant.

PALS regularly holds litter picking sessions, carries out communal planting to support the village’s ‘In Bloom’ entries and hosts the annual Scarecrow Festival in the village.

The group applied to Redrow’s community fund, linked with Ledsham Garden Village, and received a donation to purchase spring bulbs, and sunflower seeds for the local community centre’s sunflower patch, as well as bag hoops for litter picking.

Steve Hewitt, chair of PALS, said: “We’ve planted thousands of bulbs around the village so it’s an ongoing project and one we like to do year after year to keep the village looking well kept and a lovely place to live.

“The communal activities carried out by PALS volunteers help with cementing a sense of place and ownership and we even polled our members to find out where they wanted the bulbs to be planted.

“Wetherby Way and the areas around Little Sutton bowling club and Little Sutton C of E Primary School will be in full bloom and we have Redrow to thank for that.”

Redrow NW area sales manager Caroline Thompson-Jones said: “We’re so thrilled that we were able to donate money to PALS. Their work around Little Sutton is invaluable come spring when all the flowers bloom, the village will look beautiful.”
