Ange Postecoglou has shrugged off speculation linking him with Liverpool and insisted his sole focus is establishing a “solid foundation” at Tottenham.

But the Australian, who has impressed since taking over at Spurs in June last year, was dismissive when told he may be on Liverpool’s shortlist.
He said: “I may be on a shortlist…I don’t want to say anything about that. I don’t think that’s ever gong to enter my brain space for what are my priorities in life and in my profession.
“I’ve only been here for seven months. We have still got a long way to go, in terms of the football we want to play, the team we want to be, the squad we want to have.
“We’ve had two positive windows, we’ve had a decent campaign so far but we’ve got a long way to go.”
Asked if he would definitely be at Spurs next season, he added: “You see, that’s what I am talking about, that’s the funny space when we talk about managers.
“When we’re not going well, then there’s questioning whether we’re going to be here. When you’re potentially going okay there’s still questions about whether you’re going to be here but the reality is that most of it is out of our hands. So I have never worried or thought about that.
“I have a history of 26 years of management where you can see pretty clear what I do. I rely on that as my explanation as to where my thought processes are when it comes to those sort of things.
“Right now it is about finishing the season strong with Tottenham and making sure we establish a really strong foundation for who we want to be in years to come.
“That can only happen if I am totally focused on what these last 14 games can bring for us.”
Xabi Alonso remains the favourite to take over at Anfield but asked if he thought the links were a compliment, he added: “It all depends. If it is just people throwing up names then who cares?
“Like seriously, it doesn’t matter. At the end of the day If I am doing a good job, hopefully, then people will acknowledge that in one form or another whatever that form is.
“But so-called chat, really? It is of no interest to me.”
