Holmes Chapel seeks Harry Styles tour guides

Community group Holmes Chapel Partnership is seeking Harry Styles experts to lead summer tours around the popstar’s hometown.

The not-for-profit organisation welcomed over 5,000 Harry Styles fans to the historic Cheshire village in 2023, distributing free maps to help visitors find popular Harry landmarks and take safe walking routes.

Having witnessed visitors frequently attempt a dangerous walk down the A535, a 50mph road leading to Twemlow Viaduct where Harry reputably had his first kiss, this summer, the Partnership is launching Harry’s Home Village Tour.

Chair of the group, Peter Whiers, said: “We love the enthusiasm people have for Harry and are very proud to welcome visitors to Holmes Chapel. It’s an historic village that dates from the 1400s and we have been campaigning for many years for Cheshire East Council to make footpaths here wider and crossings safer for pedestrians. Sadly, nothing has been improved, so this year we are taking a new route to keeping visitors safe by hosting guided tours to popular Harry locations.”

Running on Saturday mornings in June and weekdays from July-September, Harry’s Home Village Tour will last around 2.5-3hrs and include safe walking routes to popular locations such as Mandeville’s Bakery and Twemlow Viaduct.

Tour participants will each receive a unique Harry’s Home Village Tour map offering exclusive discounts at retailers and venues throughout Holmes Chapel.

“The interest Harry Styles continues to generate in our village is great for the community and our many independent businesses,” added Peter. “It’s an honour to welcome visitors from across the globe to our community and see them chatting with locals and enjoying the Cheshire countryside. From the second visitors step off the train and are welcomed by our enthusiastic station master they are sure of a great day out here in Holmes Chapel.”

Holmes Chapel Partnership is offering ‘Harries’ aged 16+ with a genuine interest in Holmes Chapel and Harry Styles the chance to apply to become Tour Guides for Harry’s Home Village Tour.

Prospective Tour Guides will need excellent organisational skills alongside a flair for storytelling and leadership.  Flexible working hours are on offer, alongside competitive renumeration. Just 12 Tour guide roles are up for grabs with an assessment morning being held on April 20.

Tickets for Harry’s Home Village Tour will be priced around £20, with profits diverted back into a fund for village improvements within Holmes Chapel.

Applications for Tour Guides are open until 15 April with full details available here: https://www.hcpartnership.org.uk/job-application-form
