Auction of Communisis Group’s Printing Plant Assets Scheduled

NCM Auctions, a specialist auctioneer and asset management firm, is orchestrating the sale of the contents of Communisis Group’s print production, mailing, and fulfilment facilities in Leeds and Liverpool.

Communisis has been a key player in the integrated marketing services sector, delivering essential print and mailing services to major financial and public entities in the UK. However, the company, based in Leeds, faced administration last year.

The assets of the printing and fulfilment operations located in Leeds and Liverpool are now up for auction. The auction features a series of exclusive sales encompassing a wide range of items from specialist printing and finishing equipment to lifting apparatus, workshop tools, shelving, and office materials, offering numerous acquisition opportunities for industry buyers.

An exclusive live auction set for 25 April will feature major production lines, including printing presses and finishing equipment formerly used in the production of financial documents, marketing materials, cheque books, polling cards, and other specialised products.

Among the highlighted equipment are a Hewlett-Packard T300 colour inkjet web press, a Rotoman EDE 6-station web press with dryer, Drent and Goebel presses for cheque book and financial material production, a Roland R700 6-colour press, Heidelberg printing presses, and a Scitex personalisation line designed for high-speed variable data overprinting, along with a comprehensive 15-part finishing line.

The auction also extends to pre-press and plate making room contents, large format proofing printers, Polar guillotines, Hohner and MBO finishing machines, among other items.

Emma Humble, Head of Partnerships at NCM Auctions, commented: “This sale for Communisis is a large project across multiple sites and brings a lot of infrequent and specialist machinery to the market. Our circular approach helps to extend the life cycle of this equipment. It means there are hundreds of pieces of machinery across these sales that will go on to be used by a range of businesses, from start-ups and smaller organisations to those in the print industry who understand the production capacity and quality of the end product they can achieve with this combination of print and finishing equipment.”

“We’ve already seen a great deal of interest from potential buyers both in the UK and overseas. With an auction like this, I would urge potential bidders to book with us and arrange a viewing with our team before the auction.” The Leeds site’s equipment and machinery will be auctioned live at 11am on 25 April.

The remaining factory fixtures, fittings, workshop tools, lifting and handling equipment, office materials, and smaller machinery will be available in timed auctions running from 24 April to 3 May.

Interested parties can view the catalogue, register, and submit pre-auction bids.

Viewings can be scheduled by appointment. For further details, contact the auction team at NCM on 01302 898260 or via email at [email protected].
