A Northwich man has been jailed after he admitted dealing class A drugs in the town.
Renny Hamer (33) of Denton Drive, appeared at Chester Crown Court on Tuesday, where he was sentenced to 40 months in prison. He had previously pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply Class A drugs (cocaine) and being concerned in the supply of Class A drugs.
The investigation initially began in December 2023 when police became aware of a mobile phone number which was being used to sell cocaine in Northwich.
The number was used to send flare messages advertising the sale of substances to repeat buyers. Officers traced the phone to Hamer after they recovered CCTV footage of him purchasing credit for the phone at a local supermarket.
A warrant was conducted at his flat in April, where police seized several cash and the mobile phone which had been used to sell the drugs.
A plastic tub containing a large quantity of cocaine which had a street value of between £5,760 and £11,840, was found stashed in his car.
Conviction
Detective constable Claire Heatley, said: “I welcome the sentence handed to Hamer and I hope that his conviction sends out a warning to other dealers planning to target the Northwich area.
“Illegal drugs have a hugely detrimental impact on our communities, and we are committed to doing all we can to ensure that those involved in the supply of such drugs are held accountable.
“Following his arrest Hamer attempted to evade justice, claiming that he did not send any of the messages and answering no comment to many of the questions put to him.
“Thankfully, because of the evidence we were able to gather against him he had no option but to plead guilty to the charges against him.
“While this investigation has now concluded, our fight against illegal drugs, and those who supply them, continues.
“Intelligence supplied by members of the public is crucial to this fight and I urge anyone with any information about suspected drug-related activity in their community to get in touch.
“You will be listened to and we will investigate the matter.”
