Roarsome fun to be had in Chester in August

Get ready for a Jurassic adventure as dinosaurs return to Chester city centre, bringing a roar of family-friendly, free activities!

Chester BID’s popular street event will return on Saturday, August 10 and Sunday, August 18, which will see the streets burst with prehistoric excitement.

Families are being encouraged to dress up in their best explorer outfits or dino costumes too.

Look for the orange tent on Eastgate Street to catch some magnificent creatures – and their babies – as they make their appearances in intervals from 11am to 3pm.

Adding to the excitement, the Dino Hunt will also return for 2024, where families are invited to find dinosaurs hidden in 25 businesses across the city for the chance to win a £50 Chester Gift Card. You can complete an activity sheet to track down hiding dinosaurs, and send it back by August 26.

Luka Morrell, business engagement manager for Chester BID said: “Over the past few years, Roarsome Chester has become a huge hit, drawing families into the city during the Summer holidays. Get ready for a great day out with huge dinos stomping around, families dressed up in their best prehistoric wears and businesses ready to welcome all Dino Hunters!”

On Monday, August 19, there will also be SEN sessions of Roarsome Chester at Storyhouse in The Garret Theatre. These free 45-minute sessions rom 1.30pm to 4.15pm, require booking due to limited spaces.

Children will meet the dinosaurs up close in a relaxed, fully accessible setting. Bumble the Brontosaurus, Zoom the T-Rex, and Mega the Megalosaurus will be introduced by expert wranglers with songs, friendly theatrics, and dino activities to follow. Tickets can be booked on the Storyhouse website.
