Chester gut health business scoops four Great Taste Awards

Chester-based Bio&Me – a leading gut health food brand – has scooped four prestigious Great Taste Awards.

Co-founded by The Gut Health Doctor, Dr Megan Rossi, the brand’s bestselling Super Seedy & Nutty Granola, Fruit & Nut Muesli, and its Original and Strawberry Kefir Live Yoghurts all secured Great Taste 1-stars, in what is known as the world’s most trusted food and drink accreditation scheme.

The recognition underscores Bio&Me’s commitment to creating delicious, nutritious, and gut healthy products including granolas, porridges and new flapjack oat bars all designed to make gut health easy and accessible.

Based on Dr Megan’s scientific research, the business believes that people and microbes thrive on variety and deliciously good food.

A total of 13,672 products were put through the competition’s rigorous blind judging process. Bio&Me’s products stood out, earning accolades for their outstanding taste, quality, and innovation, and the four award-winning products were particularly praised for:

Super Seedy & Nutty Granola: “There is a dearth of this type of sugar-free cereal on the market, so it’s good to see that this nutty blend of oats works well.”

Fruit & Nut Muesli: “A very moreish muesli. The warming aroma of toasted oats and high quality fruits makes this a well-rounded muesli.”

Original Kefir Live Yoghurt: “A lovely creamy consistency – a great accompaniment to fruit or a breakfast cereal.”

Strawberry Kefir Live Yoghurt: “This is a light kefir with a lovely aroma. We like that it is made with real, fresh strawberries.”

Co-founders, Jon Walsh and Dr Megan Rossi, also known as The Gut Health Doctor, joined forces in 2019, and the Chester-based business enjoyed significant growth from the get-go.

Its products are now stocked in major retailers nationwide including Asda, Boots and Tesco, and last year alone dished out 24 million portions of gut-loving goodness across the UK.

The B Corp certified business employs 15 staff and counts England captain Harry Kane as an investor. Now the UK’s leading gut health food brand, with £10 million retail sales in 2023, the brand’s meteoric rise shows how gut health is fast becoming a new lifestyle approach.

Jon Walsh said: “These awards are a testament to our team’s dedication to crafting gut-loving products that not only support digestive health but also taste incredible. We believe that healthy eating should never compromise on flavour, and winning these four awards completely validates our mission.”

Dr Megan Rossi said: “As a dietitian and a scientist I’m passionate about educating consumers on the importance of looking after their gut health. I was inspired to start Bio&Me to help people discover they don’t have to sacrifice on taste to look after their gut health: it can be deliciously easy, as evidenced by scooping these highly-coveted Great Taste Awards.”
