How to start a lodge business

A lodge business is a very interesting and promising business that any person with knowledge about hospitality can start. It’s because a lodge business is one that is considered low risk.

A lodge business refers to a type of lodging establishment, typically situated in a natural setting like a mountain or forest, offering overnight accommodations for travellers, often with a rustic or cabin-like feel.

The following are several things you have to prepare if you want to start a lodge business.

Pick the right location

The first thing when it comes to starting a lodge business, is to pick the right location. Since the business will most likely take place in a rural area, this part can be quite tricky.

If you don’t want to take a high risk, you can simply pick a location that is close to a popular tourist spot such as a beach, lake, or waterfall. This mean you are able to target two kinds of customers: those who really intend to stay in your lodge and those who visit a tourist spot and are forced to stay in a lodge around the area.

Provide the best value for money accommodation

The second thing to ensure is that you provide the best value for money accommodation. The accommodation in your lodge business is the main attraction so you have to give them the best you’ve got.

Fortunately, since a lodge business is usually in a rural area, you don’t need to provide a fancy building with luxurious rooms like those in five-star hotels. Instead, you can just provide some cottages or even glamping tents such as the ones from Crossover Lodge.

Provide the best services

Last but not least – and cannot be underestimated – is customer service. Since the basis of a great lodge business is hospitality, you have to provide the best services you’ve got. This can include responsive and helpful customer service, good booking system, good cleaning service, and skilled cooks who can provide nice food and beverages quickly.
