A disqualified motorist has been jailed for causing serious injury by dangerous driving in Widnes.
Anthony Campbell (26) from Abbey Close, Widnes, was sentenced to three years and four months during the hearing at Liverpool Crown Court on January 7.
He pleaded guilty to three counts of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, driving while disqualified, no insurance and failing to stop after a collision. Campbell (pictured) was also disqualified from driving for four years and four months and will have to pass an extended driving test.
At around 11.45pm on October 11, 2024, a black Mercedes AMG A45 driven by Campbell was in collision with a grey Audi A1 on Kingsway in Widnes. The occupants of the Mercedes got out of the vehicle and fled the scene.
The occupants of the Audi were taken to hospital with serious injuries.
At 1.30am on October 12, Campbell called police to say he was the driver of the Mercedes and would hand himself in on the Monday.
Then subsequently made a couple of calls but had yet to hand himself in.
Officers made enquiries to establish his location and tracked him down to a hotel in Liverpool. They attended and arrested him while he admitted that he was the driver and that he was already banned from driving.
Sgt Russ Sime said: “The fact that he was already disqualified from driving when he crashed into the other car and left the scene leaving three women badly injured shows his disregard for others and the law. I hope that he now understands impact of his actions.”
