SEPE Subsidy For People Leaving Prison

This is the SEPE subsidy for people leaving prison. The body contemplates it for sentences of more than six months in duration.

Unemployment benefits in its different forms cover citizens in very different circumstances, even when they leave prison after a sentence of a certain duration and are not unemployed.

The State Public Employment Service (SEPE) reports on its website that one of the subsidies it has available is that for ” people released from prison .” To be eligible for it, a series of specific requirements must be met:

-Have been released from pressure after a sentence of more than six months .

-Be registered as a job seeker for at least one month from prison release.

-Being unemployed.

-Not having the right to contributory unemployment benefit, unemployment.

-Do not reject a suitable placement offer and do not refuse to participate in professional training, promotion or retraining actions.

-Not having monthly income higher than 75% of the Minimum Interprofessional Salary (SMI), that is, 712.50 euros per month.

The SEPE informs that people who were entitled to the subsidy for people over 52 years of age must apply for this benefit, but they will be able to benefit from this help: minors who spent more than six months in an internment center for a crime provided that are released with at least 16 years and the people released after more than six months of deprivation of liberty by a process of “cessation of their drug addiction.”

The amount of this aid, as in others of a similar nature in terms of coverage, is 80% of the Iprem (Public Indicator of Multiple Effects Income), that is, 451.92 euros per month .

The duration of this subsidy is six months in its initial period, but it can be extended, in extendable periods of six months, up to 18 months , that is, a year and a half. The SEPE informs that the payment is made between the 10th and 15th of each month.

It may also be the case that a person who is receiving unemployment, the contributory unemployment benefit, is forced to enter jail after a conviction against him. In these situations, you could suspend your unemployment and, when you leave prison, resume your collection.

It is one of the cases in which the SEPE allows the provision to be suspended . Of course, the agency explains on its website that “except if you have family responsibilities and do not have any family income whose amount exceeds the minimum interprofessional salary.”
