A team of businesspeople from across Cheshire came together to support the first ever #DonatableDay – spending a day volunteering to improve the grounds surrounding the site of the former Flag Lane Baths in Crewe.
Set up with the needs of local businesses in mind, Donatable seeks to offer a packaged programme of promotional marketing support services whilst at the same time reinvesting its profits back and volunteering in those local communities its business members serve. Its first ever #DontableDay encouraged members to volunteer and make a difference in the local community.
Co-founder Rachel Williams comments: “Donatable was launched to help businesses engage with their local communities and leave a lasting positive impact.
“On our first #DonatableDay the crew carried out a full day of litter picking, weeding, sweeping and building new steps to make the site safe and presentable. Everyone did a fantastic job and we received some lovely feedback and thanks from the organisers – The Lighthouse Centre.”
Reverend David Edwards from The Light House Centre leads on the Flag Lane Baths project and comments: “The saying goes that many hands make light work and for me it’s been a privilege having the business community come and support the Flag Lane Baths project and so great to meet the Donatable team.”
“To see Flag Lane Baths restored once again will be a terrific thing for the whole community. The venue means so much to local people as many of them learnt how to swim here. Donatable members helped to give the facility a facelift during the first phase of the site’s redevelopment.”
Rachel adds; “As a social enterprise we plough part of our profits back into the communities that need it most. By taking part in a #DonatableDay our members are also showing their commitment to the communities they serve.”
