Bowmer + Kirkland (B+K) has begun demolition works at the former Bootle Street Police Station, the site of the St Michael’s development in Manchester city centre.
Phase one of the scheme, expected to complete and be ready for occupation in 2024, will deliver 185,000 sq ft of prime Grade A office accommodation across 9 floors, a new public realm and a stunning rooftop restaurant with views across Manchester. The delivery of this phase will support circa 1,800 jobs bringing £120m of investment into the city.
St Michael’s is the first real estate investment in Manchester from leading global investment firm KKR, which formed a JV with Relentless last year to deliver the project.
Gary Neville and the Relentless Developments team were joined on-site this week alongside contractors B+K to celebrate the major milestone.
Gary Neville from Relentless said: “The team has worked incredibly hard over a number of years to bring this project forward and this is a momentous day for all involved. We are really pleased to be working with B+K to deliver this transformational scheme that mirrors the ambitions of Manchester as a city.”
Bowmer + Kirkland NW Regional Director, Paul Sykes, said: “We are delighted to have been chosen by Relentless Developments to build the first phase of this high profile development in the heart of Manchester. Today is a major milestone and an important step on the road to increased jobs and investment in our city.”
