Rookery Hall Hotel wins ‘Large Hotel of the Year’ at prestigious Cheshire Awards

Rookery Hall Hotel & Spa has been crowned ‘Large Hotel of the Year’ in the Marketing Cheshire Awards. The Nantwich-based hotel, part of the Hand Picked Hotels collection, was also shortlisted for ‘Wedding Venue of the Year’.

The prestigious Marketing Cheshire awards recognises excellence and outstanding achievement by local businesses and individuals working in Cheshire and Warrington’s visitor economy, and has been running for 16 years.

Joe Manning, Chief Executive of Marketing Cheshire, commented: “Businesses across Cheshire work incredibly hard to make it a welcoming and exciting place to visit and these awards help us to mark these efforts.”

Rookery Hall’s innovation and dedication to its guest experience helped it to scoop gold in the ‘Large Hotel of the Year’ category. For example, by safely opening up its grounds during the pandemic to offer takeaway treats, organise treasure hunts for families, and create exciting al fresco dining opportunities, Rookery Hall saw an increase of 50% in non-residential visits.

The hotel team also worked hard to further elevate the guest experience in various ways, including by developing working relationships with other British brands such as Joules, who now provide dog accessories and welly boots for guests to use as they walk the extensive grounds, and with Jacques, whose traditional games are available for use whatever the weather.

General Manager, Tim O’Sullivan, comments: “We are all thrilled and incredibly proud to have been awarded Large Hotel of the Year, particularly after all the challenges and disruption that the pandemic has caused. We feel honoured to have received such glowing praise.

“This recognition injects a real sense of achievement for the team, who are the heartbeat of our business. They work extremely hard and always show amazing, humbling commitment to Rookery Hall, which has been especially apparent in the last few years. This award is a testament to everyone’s efforts.

“We have gone from strength to strength, having recently retained our 4 red star rating from the AA as well as achieving a 2nd AA Rosette in our restaurant. In addition, we continue to be recognised as a five bubble Spa from the Good Spa Guide. I am excited to see what we can accomplish in the year to come as we continue to strive for excellence for our guests.”
