Donatable ‘serves up’ business volunteers for local Nantwich Foodbank

Cheshire based businesses came together last month to take part in a volunteering ‘Donatable Day’ (Wednesday 27th April) at Nantwich Foodbank – supporting the community lifeline with its annual full stock take and deep clean.

Donatable is a social enterprise that brings businesses and local community groups together to react to a community need. Each quarter the members come together to make a real difference to a local community project by supplying willing volunteers.

Co-Founder Debbie Owen comments: “This latest Donatable Day saw our members yet again bringing their energy and enthusiasm and they rolled up their sleeves, donned our hi-vis jackets to get stuck in to tackle a big job for good!”

Volunteers completed a full annual stock take and weighed, cleaned, and restocked shelves and crates – completing a task which would have taken the charity several days to complete. Last year the Nantwich Foodbank provided 13,000 meals to local families.

Emily Vaughan from Nantwich Food Bank comments: “We really do appreciate the extra helping hands we had with our annual stock-take. We also had a bulk order delivery from Morrison’s at the same time as the stock-take which would not have weighed, dated, and sorted so efficiently without the help from the Donatable volunteers.”

Employees from Construction Linx, KPI Recruiting, Legat Owen, Amana Lettings, BOOT Property and the Donatable team all took part in the volunteering effort.

Debbie adds: “It gave us all a real insight as to how the food bank operates and the wonderful emergency support it provides to local families.”
