Cheshire-based Pura officially obtains B Corp status

Pura, the Cheshire eco-friendly baby brand has today announced that it has officially become a Certified B Corporation.

Pura joins the rapidly growing movement of more than 5,000 Certified B Corporations, in more than 85 countries and across over 158 industries, who are committed to using business as a force for good.

It is one of just a handful of Cheshire-based companies to receive the accreditation, reinforcing the company’s determination to democratise eco and be a force for good in the baby care industry.

Guy Fennell, Pura founder and CEO said: “B Corp certification means we’ve been officially acknowledged for meeting the highest standards of social and environmental impact.

“Pura was launched with the goal of prioritising people and the planet. We’re really proud to join the B Corp community and have our efforts recognised. This is start of an exciting journey and we’re looking forward to our next steps.”

The global B Corp Certification Scheme was created to give people transparency on the ethical, social and environmental performance of brands.  During the assessment, companies are scored on the positive impact they have on the planet, their staff and the communities they operate in.

Based on its ‘B Impact Assessment’; Pura earned an overall score of 82.1.  The average score for businesses that complete the assessment is currently 50.9.

Matt Moreland, Pura sustainability director commented: “As a B Corp we will continually push ourselves to do better when it comes to people and planet, and we’ll be held accountable as we try to improve our impact, measured through our B Impact Assessment score every three years.”

Founded by parents Guy and Abi Fennell in 2020, Pura offers families a range of affordable but high-quality eco-friendly products via a monthly and cost-effective online subscription service.

Pura’s plant-based wipes are 100% plastic-free and 100% biodegradable. The brand’s high performance, low eco impact EU EcoLabel certified nappies and nappy pants offer an alternative to traditional nappies.

Also available in Asda, Costco, WH Smiths, Amazon, Superdrug and Ocado, all products in the Pura range are clinically and dermatologically tested and are accredited by Allergy UK.
