SNAP-HAPPY JILL TAKES THE HONOURS IN LOCAL PHOTOGRAPHY COMPETITION

Local Malpas resident Jill Bicknell is celebrating success in a photography competition run by McCarthy Stone, the UK’s leading developer and manager of retirement communities.

Organised by the developers of The Cedars Retirement Living development in Malpas, the contest invited people to take and share photographs of their favourite scenery, wildlife and landscapes from the local area.

Jill’s image, depicting a snowy scene from Coppenhall, near Crewe, won the most votes from residents at The Cedars. Its vibrant colours beautifully showcase the Cheshire countryside in winter. Jill received £250 for her efforts.

Jill commented: “It was such a beautiful day – snow had fallen but it was bright and sunny – and I was eager to capture it on camera. I was really pleased with the result, I never thought I would win but I am delighted to have done so. Many thanks to McCarthy Stone for running the contest and to everyone at the development who voted for my photo!”

Fiona Brooks, Divisional Sales Director for McCarthy Stone, commented: “We received some fantastic entries which really showcased the natural features, flora and fauna of the local area, in different seasons throughout the year. This image captures the crispness of the snow against the dark trees and the beautiful blue sky and is a worthy winner.”

Just four units remain available at The Cedars, which comprises a total of 23 one- and two-bedroom luxury apartments exclusively for occupants aged 60 and above. It is close to all local amenities in Malpas with views of the Cheshire countryside.

Shared facilities include landscaped gardens and an exclusive Homeowners’ Lounge, with the option for visitors to stay overnight in the dedicated guest suite. A house manager is resident on-site and each apartment is fitted with a 24-hour emergency system. The development is fully accessible with lifts to all floors.

Prices at The Cedars currently start from £204,999 for a one-bedroom apartment, with two-bedroom properties starting from £289,999.  A range of options are available including outright purchase, part buy part rent and rental only. Open House events take place each Saturday until the end of October, between 11am and 4pm for prospective residents to discover more – no appointment is necessary.

More than nine out of 10 customers would recommend McCarthy Stone to a friend, ensuring it has received the full Five Star award for customer satisfaction from the Home Builders Federation. McCarthy Stone is the only UK housebuilder of any size or type to achieve this rating every year it has taken part in the survey.
