LOWER MOSS WOOD RECEIVES DONATION FROM BELLWAY

Lower Moss Wood nature reserve and wildlife hospital on School Lane in Ollerton, Knutsford, has received a £200 donation from housebuilder Bellway.

With its Weaver Green development taking shape on Chelford Road, just a short distance from Lower Moss, Bellway was keen to support the important work of the private educational trust as its new development has strong environmental credentials of its own.

Committed to the conservation, preservation and protection of wild hedgehogs, Bellway’s Weaver Green development features a carefully planned network of hedgehog highways, or gaps to the boundaries that allow hedgehogs to roam freely without being trapped by walls or fences.  All new residents to the development will also be given a ‘how to help wild hedgehogs’ information sheet as part of their green welcome pack.

Further underlining its commitment to hedgehogs, Bellway has commissioned a children’s story about two hedgehogs named Belle and Brickle.  Copies of the hardback book are on display in the beautiful hedgehog-themed bedroom in the showhome and will be given as gifts and prizes to local children.

Ian Daniells, chairman at Lower Moss Wood, visited Weaver Green to collect the donation and view the hedgehog preservation measures for himself.

He said: “At Lower Moss Wood we aim to raise awareness about conservation and the importance of doing all that we can to protect and look after our local environment and wildlife.  We also work as a wildlife hospital, taking in orphaned, sick or injured wild animals and birds for treatment and care and rely heavily on donations to keep our services running.  We are extremely grateful to Bellway for this donation and look forward to re-visiting to see more of their hedgehog conservation activities in action at a later date.”

Sales manager at Bellway, Lynne Duxbury, commented: “Weaver Green is a fabulous semi-rural development of high quality new homes just a short distance from Macclesfield.  Residents will enjoy the best of both worlds, being close to nature and also a thriving and very popular market town.  When we learned about the conservation work done locally by Lower Moss we wanted to make a donation and are so pleased that they’ve come to site to see our hedgehog preservation measures.”

Weaver Green is a beautiful development of high quality new build homes close to Macclesfield town centre.  Starting from £414,995, a select number of properties have just been released for sale and there are two stunning showhomes to view.  For further information please contact Bellway on 01625 324864 or visit www.bellway.co.uk.
