Emerging Exporter Award won by Merseyside footcare entrepreneurs

The Merseyside entrepreneurs behind PelliTec®, the innovative blister prevention pad, are celebrating after winning an award in recognition of exporting their product internationally.

PelliTec®, which first began as a business in 2016 and has its headquarters on the Wirral, won the Emerging Exporter Award at the Insider North West International Trade Awards.

Since launching the blister prevention pad in mid 2019, the product has gathered a strong foothold in the UK through distributors and on-line, as well as expanding internationally into the USA, Japan, Ireland and Australia, plus listings on European marketplaces.

But they’re not stopping there – PelliTec® is expanding its product range with an insole about to enter a clinical study, which is made using its patented anti-friction technology.

They’re also continuing to work with the Department of International Trade as they look to expand into markets such as Canada and South Africa.

Peter Broxton, a Director of the PelliTec® team, said: “We’re incredibly proud to be recognised with this award, which tells us we’re taking all the right steps to get our brand recognised across the globe as an innovative solution to prevent blisters and managing foot conditions associated with diabetes.

“Seeing our innovation making an impact overseas from right here on Merseyside is one of the reasons we started the company back in 2016. The PelliTec blister pad continues to make waves both here and abroad, thanks to various brand ambassadors across professional sport seeing the benefits.”

The judges said: “PelliTec® is successfully implementing its long term plan to bring its initial product to market, growing through endorsements by key recognised bodies in specific sectors, and is now progressing into its next phase widening both the product range and the new markets it is targeting.”

Despite its ever expanding international footprint, the company continues to be a proud part of the Liverpool City Region (LCR), which Peter describes as PelliTec’s® ‘spiritual home’.

He continued: “Our technology was invented and developed on the Wirral and the two founding directors still live there. LCR offers funding and growth opportunities which are hard to find elsewhere, and we use LCR based companies whenever possible to support our business, such as accountancy, legal, freight and marketing.”
