ICON Projects, in collaboration with Solus Ceramics, is thrilled to unveil the newly opened studio showroom at 14 Kennedy Street, Manchester. This multifunctional space, serving as both a showroom and headquarters, alongside an entertainment venue, is situated on the ground and basement levels of the historic Manchester Law Library, a masterpiece completed in 1885 by Thomas Hartas. The Old Law Library, positioned prominently on Kennedy Street, boasts a façade that garners respect and admiration from onlookers.
Ashley Kemp, Operations Director at ICON, remarks, “The pictures speak for themselves. The whole space screams detail from the moment the door opens. To quote the Incognito design team, it’s rare that the finished space looks perfectly like the initial CGI imagery, and yet, in this case, it did just that. That is a testament to the level of detail the ICON team went into during design team meetings and supply chain engagement.
The bespoke joinery here is truly remarkable and has to be seen to be appreciated fully. Each piece is custom-made, with meticulous attention to detail and coordination among trades. The lighting, sophisticated and fully programmable via iPad, brings a unique versatility to the space, whether it’s being used as a showroom, headquarters, or entertainment space.”
In a concerted effort with Incognito, Manchester’s esteemed designers, and Solus’ creative team, the goal was to craft an interior that does justice to the building’s rich history and architectural splendour.

A great team effort has gone into delivering the opening of the Manchester Studio, and we’re happy to welcome the design community to our new space. Sam Frith, Solus Creative Director, delves into the project’s complexities, “The Grade II* listed status of the building meant that this was a sensitive fit-out, requiring a high degree of skill, accuracy, and attentiveness. ICON has been amazing to work with and has brought the outstanding design from Incognito and Artin Light to life.”
