Sculptor from Venice Biennale Engages with the Cheshire Community

Paul Dunkerley, a sculptural artist based in Crewe, is making a significant impact in the art world, seamlessly combining his passion for creativity with a commitment to community engagement. Following his recent showcase at the International Venice Biennale and the upcoming Cheshire Sculpture Workshop Summer Open Studio Weekend, Paul’s story illustrates resilience, talent, and a deep connection to his art and community.

Global Attention

Paul Dunkerley’s participation in the 60th edition of the Venice Biennale brought global attention to his work, with his piece ‘Foreign Bodies’ literally standing out amidst a sea of talent. Currently in remission after a cancer diagnosis last year, Paul’s determination to share his art on an international stage and with the local community has resonated deeply with audiences.

Building on this momentum, Dunkerley extends an invitation to art enthusiasts of all ages to the Cheshire Sculpture Workshop Summer Open Studio Weekend on May 26th and 27th, 2024. Hosted in his own studio, this two-day event promises a unique opportunity to witness creativity in action, explore the intricacies of sculptural art, and engage with the local artistic community.

The Open Studio Weekend offers visitors the chance to immerse themselves in a world of inspiration and creative exploration. From studio tours providing behind-the-scenes glimpses into artists’ creative processes to interactive workshops offering hands-on experiences, attendees are invited to unleash their own creativity.
Dunkerley, shares about the upcoming event, saying, “I’m really looking forward to swing open the doors of my studio to the community. This is about more than just showing art  – it’s about doing art. Enjoying the creative journey in a space where imagination can thrive, a place for people to create, connect, and get inspired.”
The Cheshire Sculpture Workshop Summer Open Studio Weekend is a perfect opportunity to see how a working studio runs, get caught up in live demonstrations and even help make some BIG art.

Anyone interested in purchasing artwork or discussing a custom commission for their home, this event offers a unique chance to connect. Admission is free, welcoming everyone to join in the celebration of art and community.

Event Location:
