Man jailed for breaking into social club in Wirral

A man who broke into a social club in Wirral before trying to escape via the roof, has been jailed.

Callum Boscoe (26), of no fixed address but previously from Widnes, appeared at Wirral Magistrates Court yesterday, where he pleaded guilty to burglary.

The court heard that at around 12.20am on Tuesday, the alarm went off at Tixall Bowling and Social club in Oxton. Police detained a man as got on the roof in a bid for freedom.

Boscoe was jailed for 26 weeks and ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £154.

Detective inspector Sarah Wilkinson said: “The break in of this community asset has a significant impact to the club and people in the community so I’m pleased Boscoe is behind bars and paying for his crime.

“Business thefts are not victimless crimes, and especially a bowling club that provides an important service for the community.”
