All-rounder Jacob Bethell, batter Jordan Cox and fast-bowler Jamie Overton will make their T20I debuts in the first match of the three-game England vs Australia series at Southampton on Wednesday.
Surrey’s Overton won a Test cap against New Zealand in 2022 and will now make his bow at T20I level.
Bowler Saqib Mahmood also returns for the first time since March 2023 following a second stress fracture in his back.

Marcus Trescothick is acting as interim coach in succession to Matthew Mott, with Brendon McCullum taking over on a permanent basis alongside his Test role next year.
England will host Australia at Cardiff and Old Trafford later this month under the captaincy of Phil Salt.
Regular skipper Jos Buttler sustained a right-calf injury during preparations in July for the men’s Hundred.
Born and raised in Barabados, Bethell made his T20 debut in 2021 and was vice-captain of England’s Under-19 Cricket World Cup team in the same year.

The 20-year-old scored 166 runs off 125 deliveries in nine matches for Birmingham Phoenix this year.
Cox, 23, helped Oval Invincibles win The Hundred 2024, scoring the fifth-most runs overall with 214.
Overton was player of the tournament in The Hundred 2023 for Manchester Originals, scoring 202 runs at an average of 40.4 and a strike-rate of 181.9.
The 6ft 5in 30-year-old will only play as a batter while he continues to recover from a back injury.
