Logistex is delighted to announce that they have been awarded a significant automation contract by Yusen Logistics (UK) for their new 1.2 million square foot warehouse in Northampton.
The Sustainable Distribution Centre (SDC) boasts a capacity of 240,000 pallet locations and will function as an automated shared user facility for both B2B and B2C operations. The warehouse will have two chambers, focusing on Pharmaceutical and Ambient activities.
As part of the project, Logistex will provide an Automated Storage and Retrieval System (AS/RS) with Aisle Changing and Fixed Aisle cranes, a bespoke Automated 4-way Pallet Shuttle solution tailored to Pharmaceutical needs, and an Autonomous Mobile Robot (AMR) Goods to Person system serving both chambers. Their Reflex warehouse system will interface seamlessly with all technologies, ensuring comprehensive control over inventory and order picking.
Justin Saw, Business Development Director at Logistex, remarked: “The Logistex team has worked closely with Yusen Logistics (UK) throughout the tender process, creating a strong partnership. With the ability to integrate leading technology, this project demonstrates Logistex’s strengths as a top-tier systems integrator.”
Benjamin Bird, Business Development and Solutions Director at Yusen Logistics, commented: “This project is a key milestone in our plan to provide sustainable logistics services by 2030, offering customers net zero warehousing solutions. The shared user automation will meet both B2B and D2C needs, and the SDC’s proximity to the rail terminal further enhances the potential for carbon reduction, with ESG values central to the operation.”
