Mather & Co and Chester Zoo join forces for the Natural History Museum’s ‘Wildlife Photographer of the Year’ exhibition

Visitor experience designer, Mather & Co has been appointed as the exhibition designer for a temporary exhibition at Chester Zoo.
For the first time in Cheshire, visitors will have the opportunity to experience the wonder of life on Earth through the world’s best wildlife photography.
Matt Melling, senior graphic designer at Mather & Co, said: “It has been wonderful working with the team at Chester Zoo, a place I enjoyed visiting as a child and still love today!”
Mather & Co is responsible for the exhibition design and the creation of an audio-visual display that will use projector screens to immerse visitors in the photography, making them feel as if they could step into the images. Exhibition themes will include animals in their environments, photojournalism, plants and fungi, young photographers, and more.
Gemma Wright, visitor experiences general manager, at Chester Zoo said: “This world-class exhibition is a spectacular celebration of our planet’s wildlife and we’re thrilled to bring it to the zoo.
“Each photograph provides an incredible insight into the natural world, reminding us of its sheer beauty, fragility and the urgent need for its protection. What better place to become immersed in this stunning collection than within the grounds of the zoo – where so much vital work to protect species, just like those seen in some of the images, takes place.”
Yasmin Wan, junior 3D designer at Mather & Co, said: “Collaborating with both Chester Zoo and the Natural History Museum has been a fantastic experience that creatively challenged me while working within set guidelines.”
In addition to the stunning photography, visitors will also discover soundscapes, films, and expert insights that showcase the diversity and beauty of life on Earth and explore what we can do together to protect it.
The public can visit this exhibition from February 17 to April 6, 2025.
